jack lures

hey every1,

thinking off hitting the creeks 4 some jack any ideas on lures for them and some places. caught a few before but it i think it was a bit lucky on pillys at sw rocks peel island

they should depends who you get i spose but the bombers are a good way to go and are a ighly succesful lure especially up north try googling and that but bcf should help you out

Contact member the duke aka as Tom Barratt he makes a great range of gidgee lures out of red cedar. Learnt his trade from some of the old tenterfield masters. Tom makes the lures and his wife paints them and each lure is an individual work of art.

I have just bumped an old post describing Tom and his lures. Both Dino and myself are customers of his.

jacks are preditory feeders so they would feed on nearly anything that can fit into there mouth and there would be a veriety of lures that would suit but in my opinion you can't beat live bait onto a 2/0 or 3/0 suicide hook and sit around a rock bar in any creek or river or else a rock wall around the mouths of canal estates that lead into the bay

i was watching a fishing dvd a while back, and one guy got a few on a rapala xrap magnum, he was targeting barra, but he got jacks, barra, cod, and a few others that i can't remember

Got my biggest jack on a xrap. Black and gold hologram. He bit it so hard it started to fill with water. It then became a sinking lure

This was up north but reckon it would be ok down here too.

Any lures that are red or orange usually work well....

Jacks aren't fussy on the brand of their prey...
