live herring around the wynnum area

Hi everyone,

am just getting into the live bait fishing but having trouble finding herring

Just wondering if anyone has had any luck catching them around the wynnum /manly area or in the river?

The William Gunn jetty in the Wynnum yacht club holds herring from time to time not sure of any other places in the area to be honest.

bulk herring at the poop shoot at the mouth of the river. but its very strange. u can go there and get heaps of hardyheads, then 20 minutes later get a heap of gar or go and get a netfull of herring. whatever tickles your fancy is there xD

if you use a good quality sabiki jig you can usually find something to live bait with. i always go with the good quality ones as sometimes you hook a decent trevally or slimy on them and that can be interesting! Gar will take a jig if it's lightly breaded as will mullet.
