Tilapia flowing out of the Drains into the Canals

Hey Guys I've been absolutly smashing heaps of massive Tilapia at Aquatic Paradise and even seen them at Raby Bay. Will have to upload some pics. Get out there and smash them. Fishing yesterday i watched them coming down the storm water drain and flowing out into the canals. Terrible F$*@#*$ things.

With the amount of freshwater in the system, they'll survive happily and spread further afield.

Unfortunately, fishing pressure will never be enough to control them. They simply breed to quickly.

Mate I have seen a large school of them floating around down at raby bay too, just around ross creek, at any of the bridges that cross its entrance into the canals. Have never had any luck at hooking up to them though, only caught a 33cm version in my cast net (he tasted gooood too!!!).

What do you catch them on and how???

Small long shank hook and little section of prawn.. I was drifting the prawn under a float to them yesterday and when they went off the chew up top i just used a 0 sinker.. Got 10 yesterday biggest went 51cm.

I have caught them using small lures especially in flowing water.

In NPD, float fishing with worms seems the best way to go.

Unfortunately, they're not a bad chew and that encourages some to spread them.
