Line Spooling

Just bought a penn 155 overhead reel of nads07 and have been reading up the best way to spool it is to use a line spooler either at u local tackle shop or buy one so was wondering if bcf does it and if so how much

do it yourself put it on your rod leave that backing that was on there ty your main lineto the backing and use the main line lever and it will be perfect just run it througth the guides an a bit of tension

I'm pretty sure tackle warehouse will do it for you for nothing if you buy the braid there.

Ask the tackle shop, I wouldn't buy one of those off ebay that spools them, I've bought one and you cant get enough tensiun on it to keep the line as tight as it need to be.

I just spool it on while putting a bit of tension with my fingers. First outing on the boat I tie on a large sinker or deep diving lure, let out 90% or so of the line while underway and wind it back in. You will get the line nice and tight.

I was thinking about making up my own rig for just the purpose of keeping tension while spooling for the open market...then I thought ...nah....who'd buy it?:whistle: I reckon I am on a killer 'practical' design for my prototype (adjustable to fit diferent sizes and adjustable tension)....would there really be a market for these? Thoughts? Sorry to highjack this thread a bit, but I am realy curious now.

I've always found if you grab someone else to thumb 'drag' the spool of line for you it goes on tight enough.All you've gotta do is wind and watch their thumbs heat up

thanks for the replies guys just dunked it in water and used my thumb as i wound to keep tension and feed it equally and the water means theres no friction

just tie it on, and wind, no need for al that tosh, just put a sock on your hands and hold the line around the first guide, that is hopw i do it

i stick an old knife sharpening stick threw the line spool tie it to the reel on the rod and stand on the sharpening tool can put as much or as little tention on the line as you want and just reel her in. always worked for me.

make sure the line is tight when you spool the line onto the reel, i learn't that lesson the hard way......... :whistle: :blush:
