firstly i'd be givin it a good soak in fresh water, i mean soak the lil sucker.then drop out the plugs and give it a good spray of wd 40 or the likes.then once plugs are cleaned in fuel, screw em back in with a hight oil fuel ratio and let it run for like 20 minutes at a fast idle, but not revin it's guts out.20 :1 or 25 : 1 ratio should do it !

The motor needs to be drained of all water and grit etc befor being kicked over! Too much water in a cylinder can cause bent con rods. And too much residual water in crank case will foul the plugs causing an inability to fire. If a submerged motor is left unattended/unstarted for an excess of time the rings will cease, the bores will rust etc etc, complete rebuild required. My brother inlaw borrowed my tinny at Xmas and left the bungs out over night! The only thing that saved my motor from a complete drowning was the floatation in the seats. Water made it up the exhaust an in to the crank case. I took out the plugs, tilted the motor back and pulled it over for what seemed like 300 times! I have the blisters to show for it. After cleaning the plugs say ten times through out the exercise, the little 6 hp mariner fired back into life. I ran the motor in a bucket of water until it got nice and hot. Hopefully not too much damage was done.
