Spanish on Spin gear Wahooo

Talked my brother into hitting the palmy this morning with me and got started at the boat ramp around 6am. Not to many boats out there when we got there and i got onto my usual spot after cruising out through glassed out conditions. This took all of 5 minutes till the anchor dropped then we got busy rigging up and sat back for the fish to do there business.

First fish hit the furthest bait and took off in a big hurry and was spinning the egg beater on blistering runs. This fish was doing all the things a spanish mack would so i called him this early and i was not disapointed when sighted. The gaff sunk in well and the first fish was in the box but it would not be the last.

The next lot of strikes happened half an hour later after a bit of burlying and all rods went off this time. My brother got the next spanish on the same spin gear and i caught a little spotty. We boated another spotty later then the sharks moved in so we decided to call it a day but what a day with all fish caught on pilchards floated out on the spin rods.

Nice fish mate you had said there were a few around this year but you have got a handle on them here's to good weather the weekend of wavebreak.

I know you got them on pillies but floating of on a sinker down in the water colum.

Great fish there Tugger - those spotties are huge compared to the ones we used to get around Mackay when I was a teenager. Would like to head down and try Palm Reef sometime soon - do they mostly bite early in the morning or is it an on/off bite throughout the day as they find your burley?

Cheers,

Kelvin.

P.S. What caravan park is that you are staying at?
