Recreation Update (Tuesday, 25 January 04.00pm)

Some Seqwater lakes remain closed to recreation activities due to public safety issues associated with the recent flooding event.

The lakes that are currently open to on-water recreation activities are Lake Macdonald, Lake Baroon, Lake Maroon, Lake Moogerah, Ewen Maddock Dam and Hinze Dam.

As of tomorrow, Wednesday 26 January 2011, Lake Kurwongbah, Lake Somerset, Lake Samsonvale (North Pine Dam) and Lake Dyer (Bill Gunn Dam) will also be re-opened to authorised recreation activities. Access to Lake Somerset will be via Lake Somerset Holiday Park at Kirkleagh Road. The Spit recreation area will remain closed due to public safety issues at that site.

Seqwater is carrying out assessments of other recreation sites, and will advise as conditions change.

Several of our sites are likely to remain closed on Australia Day, including all recreation areas at Lake Wivenhoe. Seqwater appreciates the patience of the members of the public during this time, and will be re-opening our sites as soon as it is possible to do so.
