Good spots at Sanctuary Cove/Hope Island Area

I'm moving down there for a few weeks and was wondering where the good spots to throw a line in are land based?

yeah, don't tell me where the 'good spots' are, just suggest I do the obvious and look at the map......geez, I never would have thought of that!

a lot of the land locked lakes are full of big fish- bream, mullet, tarpon etc. Don't eat them because the fertiliser run-off from the golf course is definitely no good for you. A good way to investigate a likely site is to go back at night- if there is a lot of surface activity you're on to a good thing. Quite a few of the lakes around hope island resort don't get any fishing pressure at all and are full of trevors- shallow diving (1m-) reflective wobblers work well at night and poppers at dawn. Try for mullet, bream and gar as well with dough bait- they always seem to bite better in these sort of systems and get pretty big.

I have found that any spot around that area will produce quality fish from any landbased location. Keep in mind you won't generally catch lots of fish, but the 2 or 3 you catch in one session will be of good size and quality. I normally use a whiting or bream style set up, long shank hook with a nice juicy blood worm. Sand whiting nudge the kilo mark up in them waters. Bream, jacks, trevs, flatties etc love it up there. Don't forget to chuck a couple crab pots out where ever you fish too. Always will be rewarded.
