cast net

I reckon quite harder to throw big nets but not unmanageable. Just annoying that it takes twice as long to get ready to throw (gathering up all the loops), you get tired faster, and its a lot more $$$ lost when you snag it. Noting this I just stick to 8 footers and just do double the casts to make up for the smaller spread.

the best way to learn is to get out there and learn from someone whom can cast!

I was taught one night down at breaky creek pontoon.. (thanks Mario)

I was fighting an uphill battle before that.

I have seen blokes with different casting techniques whilst out chasing the prawns when they are on the run.

My method works fine (massive circles) but takes twice as long as some..

I want to learn how to cast the net from over my shoulder and partially around my back..

Rapid fire casting with minimum setup time!!!!! (raincoat required)

Good times...... :cheer:

i cast a fairly heavy 12ft drop net and i dont get wet above the knees generally, i just found one demo on youtube and practised it on some grass for a while, it does take a little bit of endurance casting entirely off the arms though

practise on grass or sand first, then a pontoon before you try it on a boat, boats can be trickier depending on how high the sides are and what the water is like.
