Love the overcast mornings

My brother and I managed to get out for a cast before work this morning on the nerang river.

We headed straight to a nice canal system that we have earmarked for jacks over the coming season and decided to flick surface lures for bream with the hope of some by catch of the red variety.

Unfortunately no luck on the jacks as the water has not warmed up alot this far up yet, but we had a great session anyway.

Ended up with 6 bream and 5 trevs all on surface lures. The lures that did the job were a pink maria walker, my old faithful sugapen and I got 1 GT on an 86mm bent minnow.

We had a pretty cool thing happen when my brother was reeling in a small bream, I noticed a 80 odd cm flathead chasing it up trying to eat it! It was chasing this thing around for a good few minutes taking big swipes at it boat side!

We didnt get many pics as we were too keen to hit the next pontoon, but here is a pic of my brother with a little bream on the pink maria walker.
