Fishing at Amity Point

Plenty of options but the area can be hot and cold. Jetty usually has hardiheads around which are ok bait for the resident bream population. There are often quite a few yellowtail pike about as well especially at night for bait or if you are desperate for a feed. Evening on the jetty for bream with 3 hours to the top of tide to 3 down being good casting close to the swimming enclosure netting. Shallower sandy areas hold whiting but usually need to be put on a measure. Deeper water off jetty during the day bonito, tuna and makcs can push bait in close, need to be there at the right time and have a bit of luck. Sharkies and the occassional snap if you fish straight out.

Boat ramp mainly bream some good size but be prepared to lose gear.

Last rock groin can throw up tailor on metals if they are there, but watch the size.

Might be a few squid about, maybe.....

Wander out onto the beach at the Amity exit might run into tailor bream dart if there is a worthwhile gutter there. Park at Flinder beach exit, usually a reasonable gutter just south or north, again dart tailor and bream most likely options.

fish for whiting and flatties right down the bottom of the caravan park,if u get whiting u wont need a measuring stick and some horse flatties down there,we got both down there at last xmas on bout half tide onwards on yabbies,u get yabbies down the mudflats at the bottom of the caravan park but dont go too far down as it goes to a green zone,it has a marker to tell u where this starts

cheers rosco

If you are going to fish the rock wall prepare to get snagged every second cast unless you are casting slugs or retrieving very lightly weighted plastics. As already stated slack tide is your best bet by far.

If fishing bait go unweighted or us a float.

The rocky groin or jetty are different. The usual bait aproach will work.

Good luck.
