How many of us have a fovourite spot they like to sit on and wait for the fish to come on the bight or do you drive around looking for the fish that are active?

I personally have my go to spots and have found there is times the fish turn on its just a matter of patience and the biggest trouble at times is keeping my deckies convinced to stick it out

Often it depends on the style of fishing. On the beach usually 3 or less casts can see me back on the move to another gutter. Land based I usually work through part of a tide cycle I know should work for a particular spot. In the boat it pays to be flexible. I might head out with the intention of bottom bashing only to spot a big surface bust up. Be silly not to have a shot. But if I drop anchor its because I expect the target species to be there adn will usually wait for the bite.

Hahaha just reading it back to myself, I back myself in places I know well and are pretty constant and move around in areas I don't know so well or change often.

I am definitely a chaser and rely heavily on my sounder. If it s not happening I move spot, even if its a few hundred meters. This has proven very effective on the grounds I fish. I rarely leave biting fish to find better fish.

Having said that I exclusively drift fish. Anchoring and using berley would swing the odds in favour of being patient.

It all depends on type of fishing we doing too. If we chasing jacks we keep moving every 30 minutes from spot to spot. If chasing jewies n threadies in the river i like to move around but theres few spots i go too on tide change and sit around till fish come around. In the bay if im fishing bait i like to sit at one spot and wait it out. But if plastics we dont anchor.

My deckies dont like to move around too much because everytime we do they have to pull up anchor

I have been on some boats before where the skipper just wants to chase fish, however this just means less fishing, more fuel, and more frustrating times.....Not quite what you want from a charter lol.

Tell me about it mate - some of those charters guy needs to learn a bit of patience

i think some of the charter guys dont care if you catch fish, all they care about is the money (only some not all)
