Where to find Whiting within 40 min drive Brisbane

Well a quick update on the fishing trip.

I went Friday afternoon arriving at 4pm with the wind fairly howling and making me cold even with a hoodie on. Brrr

I ended up at Tingalpa creek on the north side, the smaller tributary on the esplanade where the older boats are east of the railway bridge, on the outgoing tide.

Pretty hard to fish on plastics, the wind making it nigh on impossible to work the action properly however I did manage to get myself a Sole of all fish after about 25 mins on a Squidgy Pro Lobby medium dusk colour! I was stunned :woohoo:

Not much luck after that on plastics but I took a 2nd rod and used blood and sand worms worms getting bites as soon as the bait hit the water. I hit the Whiting and Bream nursery jackpot, the little buggers going absolutely wild. No bigger fish anywhere to be seen. Great fun though apart from the damn wind! Gave up at 6:30ish and called it a night.

Nice work on the flounder mate!

Those bigger fish can be harder to find.. one of my old whiting spots is along sandgate and shorncliffe. Theres heaps of yabbie holes in between the jetty and the rock wall if you can aquire a pump, if not fresh worms are always a go'er!.

All along the foreshores on an incoming tide can be real good for some decent whiting and bream with bycatches of rays, flatties, tailor and ive even caught 2 legal squire before around the 40 mark (best on dusk)

Only use one or two rods maximum because if you hit a school on those sandbanks it can be instant hookup every cast and they like to swallow hooks.. Sometimes you do have to walk a lil to find the fish.

Hope this helps

James

Low tide park at Lota and walk down onto the yabbie bank

Hi Shane69 and tugger.

A couple of mates and I went down to Lota yesterday afternoon and walked out onto the banks, pumped some yabbies and tried our luck. Lots of small bites but nothing really substantial, however we did get 1 whiting each as keepers. Also caught were about 5 very small flouder, a few small tarwine and a couple of very small bream.

A lovely way to spend under 3 hours fishing apart from a bit of mud. Took blood worms too so a good mix caught between worms and yabbies.

Thanks for the info, now when do u the bigger fish show? :-)

Cheers.
