The Bay

With the weather looking fantastic on seabreeze yesterday i decided to finish work early, collect a couple of mates and head out to the four beacons! Ive been dying to have a decent bay fishing session but the northerlys have been making it had for me to get out in the bay in 4.5m blue fin

We launched at the Fishermans Island ramp (cant wait until the pontoon is fishished) and with it being a little gustier then forecasted we launched the boat and began the trip over, it was a little slow but all in all pretty cruisy run over to the beacons!

With lots of fish showing up on the sounder everone began to get excited, then we spotted a small kingy sitting between the pylons and could see him follow the lures and that was all, after a couple of drifts and one bite we decided to move up to curtain and fish the slack water! I was fishing a white 5inch damiki armour shad and the first drift i pick up a nice little 42cm squire, second drift and in came a 56cm squire, 3rd drift i feel a little nibble and set the hooks, zzzzzzzzzzzzzz "yep this a little better" after about 5minutes a nice 72cm Snapper swims nicely into the net, mean while another mate has pulled in two undersize and the other mate is still fishless. so we start the motor and begin the next drift, by now the other boys have swaped to the same plastic and jig head :D my mate calls out "theres huge fish on the sounder" zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz im on again and this ones nearly reached my backing in the first run 10mins later and im starting to make good ground on him and starting to think it may be bigger another 10mintues and hes beginging to come up but now im feeling the line rub against his teeth and with my heart pumping a nice 87cm 8kg snapper is on the boat high fives all around! "one more drift boys and well stop at tangalooma for a beer then we better head back before the winds get up" the on the last drift the other two boys pick up and 38cm and another 56cm came aboard, the 38 ended up going back as we had plenty for our three families :D ended up having a quick beer and getting ice and took some happy snaps before the long and slow ride back across the bay which was beginging to get a little messy so it wasnt alot of fun great days fishing though, thanks for reading

Well done mate. We were at beacons in morning with not much luck. Nice snaps ypu gpot there.

We saw the kingy too at the beacons there was 3 of them when we were there 6am. We tried everything it followed the lure but didnt hit it. Maybe take the spear gun next time

How calm was the bay in the morning. We got back before it started getting choppy
