Unknow Hole can someone please shed some light

Hey guys, just got my tinny home engine is running perfect couldnt ask for n e thing better but after furthur inspection i have noticed this hole next to the pee hole, the engine is a 2001 mercury 2stroke 15hp, im not sure if i am worrying over nothing but i dont really want to put it in the water not knowing what this is,

your advice would be great, thanks in advance

this picture is lookin down onto the engine, is it normal to have a hole or should i at least plug it? really looking forward to takin it out this weekend

its hard to see by the pic clearly but i'd guess its a drain hole incase any water gets inside the cowling or the tell tale hose leaks

shouldn't be water coming up in the hole as it should be well above the waterline .

best bet is to go check out another 15hp at a mercury dealer and see if it has one

Its a drain hole mate d its not below the waterline so you would be very hard pressed to get a stream of water that shot straight up into it. Its always good to have a moister suppresent in your cowling anyway so buy some lannox (its innox but with lanolin) and drench your cowling and give the whole engine a going over with it too. I do this every month

Bass tracker is right , its a drain hole.
