queensland Maiden Voyage - first fish into the boat - JACK!

Hey guys, took the boat on her maiden voyage today with Dad. Now i use the term success loosely (for reasons which will become apparent soon enough).. So quick check on willyweather after work this morning and all seems well (5knots ish for coomera in the arvo. I actually get some sleep for once, wakuep and prep the boat.

Head to my parents house pickup dad, fillup the ute and boat and we're off and on the water by 4pm. Motor fires first go and we as soon as we're out of the 6knot zone dad opens the throttle and motor seems to be working perfectly! (touch wood nothing happens) we just cruise around for a while then hit a few snags as i'm trying to show dad how to use lures.

We drift past a decent looking hole on the sounder and i tell dad to fire some casts into it, 3rd cast in zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz i turn around and his rod is bent over. big headshakes and i call it for a flatty because it won't come up off the bottom. a few short sharp runs later and i have the net ready awaiting a 50+ lizard when wtf i see RED!

Dad's first hard-body (are slugs hb?) lure caught fish and its a 31cm Jack? are you kidding me? .............................................................................................. He looks at me and laughs and i proceed to tell him how damn hard it is to catch these red devils and it finally sinks in what hes accomplished. the feeling i got when i saw the smile on his face is priceless :D:D:D

I'll add some pics in a big report as i'm most likely going to be fishing the next two days as well so yeah, gonna go play modern warfare 3 for a few hours then nap and hookup with denny for a morning sesh =]

After that we moved into the canals, heaps of bream sucking but couldnt temp them with a hardbody. so moved onto surface for some missed hits but no hookup. change to plastic for a couple touches and nothing.. so i quickly wind in and right at the boat BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFF something smashes the plastic zzzzzzzzzzzzz and ping

i did catch a little moses perch to save the day haha, no donut but even if i did i dont care. first fish into the boat was a jack and thats pretty damn cool.
