Too many barra

Been home from offshore for 4 days and have been getting woken up by my new alarm clocks at 4am every morning.

This early wake up was particularly unpleasant on monday morning as I had a hangover after a sunday session

Anyway after the alarm clocks went off this morning I waited till light and headed to my spot down the street. First cast in to the upcurrent side of my honey hole snag scored this little fella

A couple of casts later another little one

The next few casts I dropped 2 more little fellas so started fishing open water to avoid the closed season barra. Pretty soon I dropped another little one and no sign of jack or GT so realised ethically and legally I had to stop fishing. So my first session since getting home lasted about 10 minutes

Nice stuff mate - how lucky to have that so close to home. I've finally decided to go throw a line in in a creek near my place - had a close look the other day (prior to that had driven over the bridge many times and thought it looked 'OK') and looks quite promising - hoping a jack resides there ....

Is it just me or does that 40cm barra look extremely healthy - solid little bugger!!

Hey Tiotony, I glad you were not offended, just though about what I wrote and could understand if you took it the wrong way, I was actually going to delete it,

Good on you for moving on, wish all respected the Barra closures as much

No offence taken Carter, you used to live up here so you know how many people disregard closed season, a Lake Placid old timer down there at the same time was incredulous when I quickly released them even though not only is it closed season, they were heaps undersize. He musn't remember back in the bad old days of the early 90's when barra were like unicorns around regional centres, and nowadays canny fisherman can catch one whenever they like :woohoo:
