A few small jacks

Still a few Jacks on the chew at the mouth of Lake Cootharaba this morning despite a 3 degree drop in water temp over the last 3 days and 30knott winds making manouvering very difficult.

I meet up with up with Bass Tracker(Brad) and Mad Mullet (Kurt)at the Boreen Point ramp and had a quick chat before they hit the everglades.

I fished the Boreen Point boat ramp after they departed and landed a few Bream up to 28cm on surface lures then head down to the Lake entrance to meet up with Dan (fishing Mania) however I found out later that he ended up bailing after blowing a bearing on the way up her in the early hours this morning. :S

I ended up with 2 Jacks up to 34cm in the boat and had another on for a few seconds before pulling the hooks.

A few small Big Eye Trevally also added to the entertainment. All Jacks and Trevs were caught on 6lb fire line, Nautic Stage rod, Daiwa sol reel and Damiki Long bill lure in tiger brown pattern.

Had a crack at catching A jew a bit furthur down river and had a few tedious taps and a momentary hook up on a reaction strike Vibe but didnt boat any. Gave up fighting the wind by 8am and head home.

Sorry Brad and Kurt for not making it up to the everglades but it was just too windy for me. :pinch:

Freshy, got the Jacks and Trevs where Prawn head got his Bream last week in open water over gravel. ;)

Big casts out, crank the lure down to depth and slow retrieve with a few twitches. Both Jacks that were landed hit about half way back to the boat, the smaller Jack 32cm hit it twice before hooking up solid. :P
