Hi all

I live in the redlands area. I try to get out as much as I can in the local area around tinny creek and such but im totally over catching undersized whiting and bream.wanna get into something with a little more substance. I was thinking if hitting boggy creek for the first time tomorrow morning for a paddle. Any advise from others that know the place well? Or can anyone suggest another spot?

Thanks

Lee

I have a kayak. I am using baits, im one of those people that everytime i use a plastic, the guy beside me using bait is hauling them in. I guess if i have one good day i will be hooked. I paddled over to coochi from the vicki point boat ramp about 3 weeks ago and spent 4 hours floating in the sun with no bites. I was fishing in front of the island directly across from the boat ramp, should i have gone around to the left or right i wonder?

I posted a thread bait to lures on the latest page....

Once you can land on or two on a lure you will have the bug it took me 10 years of watching other people do it or hearing about it... I used to think to myself bullshit its a scam to sell products.

Its all about patience and experimentation.... Trolling is a good start

With baits in Brissie I used to have days where I would get fuck all.. The fresher the baits the better.. I started cast netting baits and improved 200% using them as dead baits.. Also i used to stop in at Gem bait and tackle on the way out to Jacobs Well. They always had fresh prawns not frozen.. I was hooking twice the fish and twice the size, it made a huge difference....

I've been side by side on boats/kayak with my mates who use livies/bait

they never understood why I was flicking plastics on light gear and landing decent fish while they caught under legal or none.

using lures takes practice.

easiest way to learn? leave the bait at home!

try hitting some bass areas as the weather is a little cold

I've been at coomera river when its warmer and the jacks are everywhere

I'll post somewhere next time I can take my yak out for a paddle/fish
