Expeditor warranty

So I snapped the tip on my Berkley tournament pro last weekend and went to claim the expeditor warranty on it. It seems to be not be worth the paper it's written on. They want a $120 fee for replacement. The rod cost me $130 originally WTF???

Has anyone else had to deal with this or similar?

I can understand paying a percentage of the retail price but that's crazy.

Have you taken it up with berkley?

Did the retailer explain the process and costs when you purchased?

A reputable retailer should have explained all this at point of sale so that you can make a decision on which rod to purchase.

Austackle rods have a tag on their rods explaining their warranty procedures but do exclude misuse or accidental breakage.

Loomis have around $150 for their expedited warranty.

Nitro is around $60 for unconditional lifetime changeover.( Excellent I have used it twice you only have to take damaged rod to nearest retailer)

I think that the nitro rods ( Aussie made also) whilst 3 times the price of your berkley are a far better proposition in the long run.

Cheers

Ray you are not correct in what you said about the Austackle expediter warranty. Your comments refer to the standard warranty for faulty workmanship etc. Our expediter warranty covers breakages for any reason no questions asked and is priced as follows:

Camo Stiks $30

Camo Stik Dominator $40

Camo Stik Pro $50

Takeda Firebalde $60

I contacted Tackle Warehouse where I purchased the rod from, they contacted Purefishing on my behalf and I was sent an email the following day from Tackle Warehouse saying the expeditor program charge was $120. They no longer make the generation 2 tournament pro and were going to replace it with the new Gen 3.

It still seems way to expensive to me. I went into Go fishing and picked up another tournament pro gen2 for $90.

The original rrp was $179 for the rod, I got it on sale.

@ Ray, No the retailer didn't fully explain the the costs involved at the time of sale, nor did I ask (so partly my own fault I guess?)
