After having a few days off this week i decided to dedicate it on fishing the river as i havn't been having much luck in the bay since i bought new boat.

Did 3 sessions in the river with good success i reckon.

Saturday night my brother and his mate went out in the river for a fish. I joined around 10pm. Fished a few spots with not much luck only a few bream, catfish and a thousand shovelnose sharks. We decided to change spots and try finding some new grounds. Sounded around for 30 minutes until we found some good structure. My brother and mate were using woolies prawns and i was using the gulp 5inch shad. They managed to pull in few little squire while i got 1 taylor around the 45cm mark. Decided to fillet the taylor and use him as bait as we didnt have much prawns left. We got 3 legal squire.Decided to call it a night at 2am.

Tuesday afternoon after work me and my mate went out in the river again before sunset back to the same place. We flicked plastics around till it got dark and than started to use prawns. We managed 5 legal squire. After we ran out of prawns we decided to chase some jewies. We used gulp 5 inch jerk shads and the pink damiki shads on 3/8 gigheads around some dropoffs. We got onto a nice ball of bait. Managed 9 school jewies ranging from 60-70cm mark. Sorry no photos of jewies as we were just bringing them up and realasing them straight away. We fished for 1 hour and nearly every cast got a hit. Kinda got annoying as we weren't getting any legals. I got busted off few times on 12lb leader and decided to use 20lb. No touch after that. Around 10 we decided to call it a night.

Thursday night decided to give it another go with my brother. We got in the river around 7pm. Fished a few spots with no luck except catfish and few shovel nose sharks. I kinda had a feeling i was going to have a donut tonights as the current was pretty strong but around 8.30 everything changed. We anchored up and decided to fish fresh prawns. We managed 4 legal squire again. As things quitened down around 10 we decided to move and go check out the spot i got my jewies the other night. Again we found another bait ball. Dropped down Pink damiki shads and gulp pearl white shads. We managed 14 jewies. It was insane. So much fun on light gear. Again a few bust offs but didnt change leader so my bite rate kept going. Most of them were around 65-70 mark. I didnt take photos of jewies as we were too exicited about catching the next one. We left the fish biting when we left. Also dropped a few pots in today before heading out managed 6 legal muddies, Heaps of little ones. Came back home at 11.30pm.

My mate went out yesterday and he got 2 legal jewies 83cm-77cm from spot where i being getting mine. He got his on fresh squid. Might try bait there next time i head out.

Cant wait for prawning season to come in full swing hate buying bait lol.

Theres alot of school jewies in the river atm. So hard to find legal ones
