BR Madness: JEW UPGRADE!!!!

ok..before you all scroll down & view the photos just have a quick read through the story, its quite an event

First of all, i was in the city friday night till about midnight with afew mates having a good time, i was designated driver anyways. I had my rod & gear in the back just incase as per usual. I had dropped 2 mates off & thought why not!! its late but i wasnt doing anything till lunch saturday morning so i headed of for a fish...once again being solo :( ..

The plan was to try & chase that bigger jew & upgrade from the 76cm jew i caught acouple of nights ago, it was going to be a hard feat considering my Haunt was renouned to hold small schoolies & not large mulloway species of sort.

Upon arrival, i didnt see much action at all, there where afew other fisherman there not having any luck, i was very chillled & took my time to have some maccas & just rest..30minutes had past & i decided to start flicking...after about 3minutes of casting around here & there i managed this nice tailor who went airborne on the sight of hookup!! if anyone ever comes out to fish with me you will understand...The Tailor in my particular haunt are like barra, they jump & shake there heads, personally i think they think they are barra

the plastic on that fish had absolutely been blitzed...into the ruined plastic pack that went..i casually proceeded to fish for another 15minutes with no luck, & decided to head down stream for afew more flicks & head home..

There where afew pelicans tossing around right where there was usually fish holding but luckily they felt my presence & where off in a jiffy.

fired out the cast..

after acouple of winds of the reel, i felt a hit, but mustnt have hooked up..so i kept twitch retrieving, & a second later he hit it & i was on!!!!

Immediatly the fish started peeling line, took about 50m before i realised i was on a path megaa spooooolllagee! if this fish wasnt stopped..The drag was tightened to nearly full lock & still this fish was peeling line slowly..after 5more short 10-15m burst runs & 10minutes of carressing this fish to shore, he was a solid jew!! definatly one with the very loud grunts as i lip gripped him on shore..I knew the fish would go legal but was suprised to see that he went a full 82cm!!! WHAT A HORSEE!

Only i session earlier i managed a legal, next session im onto a 6cm upgrade..WINNNERRR!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Here are afew quick photos of the beautiful thing before he went back after some work getting water back through his gills..

STOCKKKED!

Images removed. See below.

after that fish, i proceeded to cast 3 more times & call it a night. I couldnt believe a quick fish like that would produce not just a legal but an upgrade from my last session..did i mention i was stocked?:lol:

I think another upgrade is required!!!

I hope you guys enjoyed my report as much as i did putting it together.

tight lines guys, Moses Nguyen :)

Hey there Moses Nguyen,

Ive just been trying for jews for a while now with no such luck. One of my Friends suggested i register on this brisbane fishing online website & get in touch with you about information in regards to catching these prized species in the brisbane river.

Ive taken the time to read through all your BR Madness reports & i thoroughly enjoy them very much, & love the bits of humour here & there. I have also gone out & purchase afew packets of squidgies flick bait in a 5" & also in 3" & acouple of gulp shrimp packets & with jigs & hard bodies at hand, i will be trying very hard throughout this christmas period to end my prolonged jew drought.

i was wondering if you could personal message me different techniques & all the details to which you catch these jewfish, considering you seem to be the king of them. any information would be of great use.

Kind Regards, John.

Well done Moses

Congrates on the pb on plastics. Now you have to beat mine. I caught it from same spot. Me n my mate have pulled put about 7 meter plus from there back in the days. Im sure i showed you photos.

To everyone who havnt caught a jewie in the river. They are probaly the easiest species to target atm n im not joking. Try fishing live bait in big drop offs if your landbased. The bulimba n kangroo point area has heaps of spots. Im not going to give out any spots cz it might be some ones spot x. Use google maps find jettys or parks where you can fish from.

If you have a boat use your sounder to find bait. I got 14 jewies from 1 spot the other day no legals but hey good fun. I fished various chanel markers across the river. They are holding in drop offs.

Just have to be patient. Hope that helps for those who are yet to catch these fish.

There easier to catch than caties in the river atm mate...find the deep holes if in a boat or dropoff..on land bait up or lure depending & youll be sure to be hooked up to a jew in a jiffy..the key is finding the big legal ones, thats a hell of a mission, around the gateway is a good place to start!

goodluck with those jewies mate :)

nice jew there man.

iv never had much luck finding them in the river

are they normally caught out past the gate way?
