I just thought of something... There has been many times when i went fishing and something silly happens to me. like back ago when i was using my kmart rods and i had a snag. so i held the spool and pointed the rod facing where the snag was and slowly walked back until my mono line snapped. problem was the knot where i tied the hook failed and the line sprung back and the sinker gets me in the family jewels... :pinch: lesson learned :whistle: also one of my mates was fishing on the brisbane river. He got distracted and his rod decided to slide towards the water. he ran after it and tripped and flew over his rod and into the river. he couldn't get out so i had to get crab pot rope so i can get him out. We even lost the car keys to the river and because we had no coat hanger we used a twig shaped like a hook to break into the car :blink: luckily it worked B)

anyway i was wondering how many of the website members had something silly happened to them and to share so i know i am not the only one :unsure:

Yeah I've done that too! Bloody mono line, snag came loose, with sinker still attached, hit me right in the 'what squirrels love to eat'. I've also slid down a bank in the river, thready in one arm, rod in the other, camera and mobile in my pocket. Went in waist deep, lost the fish and destroyed all the electronics :evil:

my mate didnt put the car in gear or apply the handbrake on the ramp, while getting ready to launch, the car slipped back and into the water over the roof. had to wait till low tide etc to get back, total right off. one day he will find it funny, but not just yet. This happened 2 yr ago.

:blink: Thats a painful way to remember to apply the hand break, ouch. Did the insurance pay out?

I didn't realise you found it funny when I catch bigger fish than you? :P

Still yet to fall in whilst standing to pull my lure out of trees, often requiring the paddle to reach higher :huh:

I didn't realise you found it funny when I catch bigger fish than you? :P

Still yet to fall in whilst standing to pull my lure out of trees, often requiring the paddle to reach higher :huh:

No but I do find it funny when you drop your last turtleback worm overboard after going to great lengths to get it back, and what was it that you decided would sit nicely in the scupper hole again? :whistle:

A few years back we were fishing on the hornibrook highway and hooked a stonker of a ray. A guy came over all excited and leant over the rail, (He wasnt all with it, reminds me of the "nek minnit" dude) the rod was bent over and the ray was on its back and next thing the hook let go and the sinker shot up and hit this guy right between the eyes and dropped him! :pinch: I tried so hard not to laugh and to act concerned but I couldnt contain myself. He got back up, had this big red mark on his forehead, he said nothing and just walked off.

hahaha funny:P Taib and i always vs. each other on fish. at the end of the day we always blame it on the gear, weather or tides B)

Actually, it's funnier if you DO know the person. I write a column in QFM about this called the Sheik of the Creek and it's basically all about the stuff ups that happen when we're fishing. Annual trip is on next week and we missed last year!

Good stories above too by the way.

Me and a mate were trolling off the rocks down south many years ago when we saw a girl sunbaking on the rocks.

After looking over at my mate with a smirk on his face we both were thinking the same thing, lets go in for a closer look.

As we got closer we looked at each other totally gobsmacked only to see this girl was sunbaking nude.

The boat magically was steering it's self closer and closer to the rocks and no matter how hard we tried we couldn't steer the boat away from the girl.

When we got within about 50 meters of the rocks we noticed she was laying on the rock that was on an angle of about 45 degrees with her feet pointing towards the sky and her head towards the ground.

And then when we were about 25 meters away from the rocks we realised she had jumped from the cliff tops above and was laying there dead.

Well this totally changed the situation.... we called the police up on the radio and they sent a team down to retrieve the body.

We later found out she had been murdered and thrown off the cliff alive.... what a way to go.

The best prank is to tie a metal garbage tin lid onto a rod and sink it to the bottom while drifting over a reef bottom bashing..

If you have a good current running the lid darts from side to side and feels like a real fish but near impossible to wind up. :P:P:P

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww i want to try that so badly now:P i record it if i do it;)
