holiday visit to springfield lakes

Hi

I will be visiting Springfield Lakes for a couple of weeks at the end of February, can anyone give me some info on where to fish, bait tactics ect.

i notice there are two lakes right next to were we are staying, are there fish in there and can i fish it. also do i need a permit or licence to freshwater or sea fish.

what types of fish may i catch and to what size?

You're not allowed to fish in the "lakes" at Springfield. The closest spot would be somewhere along the Brisbane River.

Bait and tactics really depends on where you decide to have a go and what you decide to target.

Main river species in the salt part would be pikey bream, forktail catfish, stingrays, and bullsharks. Less common but more sought-after are king threadfin salmon (threadies) and Jew fish (mulloway).

Upstream in the fresh Australian Bass are the most common.
