sold 40HP to 75HP Outboard motor wanted

My friend is looking for a 40 to 75HP outboard motor to replace the 50HP motor he has now.

How much does he want to spend

Im thinking of selling my 60 hp yamaha 2006 2 stroke got under 70 hrs on it which i put on in last few months to upgrade to a 90 suzuki or optimax 115hp. I want a bit more speed n grunt.

All service history on mine. New hydrolic pump in it too.

Short or long shaft? And what's his budget? I have a 1991 40hp, short shaft to sell if that suits, it will be under $1k when I work out a price

He's looking at around 2,500 for the outboard motor and maybe more if it comes with forward controlls and is electric start

All I know is that it's a Nova brand boat similar to http://digiads.com.au/boats-watercraft/used-boats/boat_ad_photos/digiads_boat_ads_84665_1.jpg but it's a quarter cabin not a half cabin. Or so I've been told.

The 50HP motor runs OK but is "unreliable" and the manual start mechanism is damaged. So he's looking to get something more "reliable"

I'm guessing it's a short shaft.
