Casting Deck Madness

hey all, im in the process of begining the build of my casting deck and storage hatch on my 3.5m tinny. i have been struggling to find heaps of pics with some ideas so i put it out there, anybody who may have pictures of any cast decks on the computer if you could please post them, id really love to see a fair few

Hi Hayden

I fitted full casting decks into my boat last year,both front and rear decks as well as side consoles for electrical gear and storage.

I fitted full alloy frames and laid carpeted ply over the frame work.

It's a fun job and very rewarding to setup a boat to suit your fishing style but be prepared as the cost is quite high if you want to do it properly.

I had a mate help with the welding but everything else I did myself.

She was a nice boat before the refit so to do it I made sure it was done better and much neater than beforehand.

It is an absolute pleasure to fish out of now and I am beginning to get the bug to do another one.

I am not sure what I would do next although I would seriously look at an old Haines 17R hull for a full refit into a Bass boat.

That is a top job, love a boat where everything has it's place! how did you attatch the side consoles to the boat?

The consoles are just hinged onto the floor at each end.

That way they open up and fold down so I can access all of the wiring behind them.

I was also going to fit a locking latch along the top but I have cut them in perfectly and with the carpet I have to push them into the gunnel channel so they lock themselves in and never move.

lance, that's a great job there.

I don't really have a good photo showing the hatches on my boat but they're pretty frikken awesome. Definitely not done by me though.. I'd have bodged it up terribly.
