Just back from 8 days at Baroumba dam. Pretty wet for first few days but it finally fined up just as were were starting to discus pulling the pin.

I tented and Both Graham and Rick and his wife Jan were in vans.

As Rick was mates with the caretakers we had a good set up in an area by ourselves with the sole use of a barby and shelter shed.

Dawn used to come down every second day with a gift of a loaf of home made bread and in return we treated them to a couple of camp oven dinners.

Fishing was very slow with lots of very aggressive babies caught some not much bigger than the lures. The most productive lures seemed to be AJs which swim at around the 10ft mark. ( they are only $10 each available from the caretakers)

I did get the odd fish on a flickershad plus an old knolls native was also productive.

Graham managed to land a nice toga ( His first and we both dropped a couple of others.)

Took a couple of days to sus out where the redclaw but then we were averaging around 80 a day from 4 pots so Bob and Dawn were well stocked up by the time we left.

Lots of reports of good catches in the pools downstream from the dam wall but too energetic for a bunch of old farts.

Ran into felanacious who was launching his canoe one arvo but he was gone by the time we got back so dont know how he went.Good to meet you Steve.

Sick of babbling on so will just chuck up a bunch of photos

Water was very dirty from all the rain.

Reports of plenty of fish in ponds below dam wall. One person got 27 bass in pool just below the crossing downstream of the park.

Madmullet would have been very frustrated as the deer roar is well and truly on with deer even coming into the park at night.

Cheers

Ray
