Tailor Run

Whiteballs

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Ive heard about the mighty tailor run in Winter and seeing as its getting close, I thought Id put out the feelers and

see if anyone out there cant impart some knowledge on a NOOB!

Ive heard that surface poppers work, as well as metal slugs.

Im up in Scarborough near the boat ramp, do they populate that area as well?

Cheers

Dave

we lived at the ocean end of sheilds st in redcliffe when i was young. my brother and the local oldie's would clean up on good tailor during winters. i also remember locals catching a lot on half pillies off the end of old jetty, with occasional mackerel thrown in for good measure!

he balls ,tailor will hit any lure you want to throw at them, slugs and poppers do work fine

have used hard bodied lures even put a ball sinker in front of them to get more distance

they will hit plastics all day but that gets expensive

stick baits work well the heavier sinking type especially

basicly when they are feeding they will hit anything that is moving

hey mate any of the rock points around the mouth of pine river should hold a few and also the platform on the bridge is doing well for jew and tailor. spin small metals or shallow running hardbodys eg rapala x raps 10cm olive back or blue pillie. catch tailor, fillet and send out for larger jew, otherwise for the big grennbacks hit the surf beaches yamba to frazer thruogh winter. hope this helps ezy
