Do$tylz & I had mate plans to take advantage of the weather and hit the bay up.

First up we fish the rock wall at the mouth in search for Tailor, we found them soon after and there were some big fish about

however we were unable to raise a scale, we fished the area for a little while pulling up grinner after grinner, a small bream and pike.

After a short while I made the call and we headed over to the four beacons, the bay was pretty calm and didn't take long for us to get there.

There was bait showing up on the sounder everywhere but couldn't raise any fish, a few hits here and there but nothing exciting

From there we headed up to the ship wrecks to have a look around, the water was very clear and heaps of tropical fish everywhere !!!

We had a quick flick and caught a small golden trevally :)

We flicked around some more and there we lots on longtom around, we hook em and lose em, I found it entertaining but Henry was interested in catching better fish lol so we headed to Curtain

Curtain was a car park and we drifted around with many drops for nothing... persistence finally paid off and we found snapper down below, the first fish absolutely smashed me and kept peeling line over & over again, after about 5 minutes my 6lb leader rub through it's mouth and was game over!! we drifted over again and then next drop exactly the same happens, another good fight but I leccy over the fish and gain some good line back on him, i thought I had this one until he turn and bolted below again, unfortunately he went straight under the boat and the leader snapped again!!

here's a vid of the first fish screaming away !!

4th drop down and i'm on again, this time fight was easy and pulled up a small squire, no pic just threw him back, i wasn't interested in him after the 2 previous fish i lost!!

We bailed after a while as more boats came and screwed up our drift, took some happy snaps of the boat and then back to the rock wall.

Henry had some more luck here and had one fish, most likely a Cod do him over and then later on caught a nice Flatty

we covered a heap of ground today and worked hard for only a couple small fish but we certainly had our chances to have made it a crackin trip!!!

Thanks for coming out Henry, was good fun, especially fangin the boat close to full tilt across the middle of the bay :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

niceeeee, that video was cool. ur right, u cant do anything but pray! :silly:

I had that fish on for a bout 4/5 minutes before we started filming, the rod actually handled pretty well but with 6lb it was a 50/50 battle.

Was quite fun though, gotta love the sound of a screaming drag !!!

I did upgrade to 16lb leader when and landed the 3rd fish but he was luck to be 30cm

i had a ball catching small snapper and grinners at peel island on my ultra light rod and 6pound braid. was good fun!

theres alot of big Goldens caught at Curtain which could be your culprit and seriously 6lb leader at Curtain are you guys mad

probably more stupid than crazy on 6lb lol

Yeah could have been a Goldy, have caught some big one before but they didn't have those big thumps like this did towards the end of the fight, either way i'm still spewing :(

We saw you guys at curtz reef. The weather was bloody awesome. Nice photo's.

Hey Cookie, did one of the guys on your boat have a Nordic stage shirt on? we were going to say g'day but was unsure who it was....

How did you guys go? other than our miss fortune, we saw a few people lose some decent fish too

Correct! That was us. That was Toonie, I was wearing the Daiwa shirt. Toonie was like that look like Henry, but we didn't want to yell out to random people on the water, just in case.

We caught 7 Tarwhine, 5 reef fish, 1 spanner crab (released), 15 Butter breams. and got busted off once, got to excited with the new combo so i decided to tighten the drag maxed and see how it go, and the fish was still pulling. then knot failed.

That place look like a can of sardines. People just kept coming.

Ahh cool. next time will say g'day - as some of the boats left the fishing got better but we then had some idiots anchoring on the spot where we were hooking up, it screwed up our drift, stupid thing is they were dropping baits which went with the current well away from the mark, idiots !!!
