Line colour

Hi I have just started fishing for a couple of months and I am using a normal Javis Walker rod and reel set. While fishing all this time, I have saw some people using coloured fishing line. I was wondering if the colour of the fishing line actually plays a part in increasing the chances of landing a fish or anything?

Lure fisho's like to use a brightly coloured line to help with bite detection. You watch your line as it sinks or even after it's hit the bottom - any twitches in the line or abnormal movement could indicate that a fish has picked up the lure off the bottom and is swimming away with it.

Hope that answers your question :)
