My Ebay Braid

My Ebay braid arrived today, 2 x 150 yard spools of 18kilo 0.20mm diameter spiderwire from the US of A. Cost about $30 Australian delivered.

Only problem is I cant remember which reel I was gunna load it on, had it all figured out a fortnight ago when I bought it! Mainly bought it for Awoonga this year, normally I use 20lb spiderwire, but figured a bit of insurance chasing \"1m plus\" barra was a good idea!

Yeh that had me stumped lol.

18lb maybe? Fused braids are dodgie in the heavier strengths. Spectra braid is usually better as it doesn't slip and isn't stiff. Fused braid is smooth and slips easier, especially when it's new.

Yep I am sure, 18 kilo and 0.20mm.

It would be pretty poor braid if it was much thicker, that size mono is only 0.35 to 0.40mm generally.

how do you tell the difference between fused braid and spectra braid mate?

I think that fused braid is when dyneema fibres or other stuff like that is fused to mono-type fishing line. Fireline is one of these.

Spectra is complete braid. Like Spiderwire, Tuf Line, Platypus Super Braid, etc.

Ferel: I have some Platypus Lo-Stretch (mono) and it is 8kg and 0.32mm diameter. Lo-Stretch is good quality mono so I doubt that you could get 18kg at only 0.35-40mm.

Yep your right cowfish, getting mixed up between spools, 0.45 would be closer.

Any way, if the braid does feel like 0.2mm, test the breaking strain of it to see if is labelled properly. If it is good, then I will be getting some soon:)
