Yep it's one of the brood stock for the breeding program there hopefully about to crack

Yep, definitively one of the breeding stock of JP's held at the FQ research facility at Bribie Island.

Have seen these fish a number of times and apart from their length, looking down on them, their thickness across their backs is amazing.

Hopefully with the extra research funds, Michael and his team can crack the problem of getting the larvae to feed once they've absorbed the yolk.

Apart from restocking their old haunts, being able to get a few for a fish tank would be great!!

See them this big in the wild at least once a month. They do grow much larger than people think. Stoked they are breeding them, would be awesome to have these back in SEQ, they are such an awesome fish!!

That's exciting and encouraging news.

I caught 5 JP in the Mosman River near Port Douglas in a session last year. 4 of them were only 18-21cm, and 1 was 29cm, so yeah I didn't think they grew that big. A great fun aggressive sport fish though!
