Land based plastics fishing

Hey everyone.

I went out and bought my self a new outfit and wanted to go test it out. I picked up one of the new Shimano Raider Soft Plastics robs (Bream Finesse 732, 2-4kg) and matched it with a Shimano Stradic 2500FJ spooled with 5 pound braid and 10 pound leader.

I decided to go chase some flatties and bream.

I headed out the other day to fish down at the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads area.

I started at Tallebudgera fishing the sand banks using the trusty 100mm squidgie wriggler. First cast and I got a small bump. Next cast, I just dropped the plastic in the same spot as where I got the bump and BAM!!! Hooked on to a nice flatty.

Stayed fishing there for another hour with little success so decided to move on and head to the Tweed River.

Went down to my usual spot and just walked the banks flicking the plastic. Ended up picking up some nice fish down there. Caught 4 Flathead all ranging from 40cm to 51cm.

Great session mate. What are your thoughts on that rod? I've been looking at them for a while now.

I really LOVE this rod!!! Its perfect for estuary fishing and it has a little bit more lenghth to it. Being a 2-4kg rod, its still light but has plenty of grunt (and doesn't have a problem setting hooks in flatty's mouths).

I own a 1-3kg Shimano T-curve and ever since I picked up the new raider soft plastics rod, the poor T-curve is ditting in the corner gathering dust!!! LOL
