Ferg at Stanley River.

Feral

Recommended Posts

Got off the phone a little while ago, Ferg rang me up to report on his days fishing at Stanley River on Friday.

Tells me all about his dozen or so bass, then a yella that was interested, but did not take the lure, then after about 10 minutes he drops this on me!

After the Yella had had a look, and gone back to his snag, Ferg casts in there again and Bang,he is on. Thought it was the Yella back again, but the line just kept peeling off the reel, then he finally pulls it up, and a couple of huge splashes and tail slaps and its off again.

Finally works it to the bank, and its a Mary River Cod. He dehooked her in the water and let her go, no Camera with him unfortunately, but he reckons she was at least 50cm long and about 15cm across the head.

This is the 2nd one he has caught in the Stanley in 5 years of fishing it. Obviously the stocking they have done in Somerset has been at least partially successful! (The Stanley is upstream of Somerset Dam).
