how to control moisture

hey dudes:)

i just want to know what do you use for moisture control in your tackle boxes , if any? e.g like those little sachets of beads that ya find in pill bottles e.ct and i have also heard of talcum powder but how would the scent thing affect your lures? any other ideas?

Leave the lid open in the sun!

Sachets of silicon would be the way to go if it worries you. Talcum powder could make an awful mess!

Short grain rice is my secret weapon. The rice absorbs the moisture, it doesnt end up being a paste and when its discolours throw it out and put another 50c worth in... Nice and cheap!

Silica Gel would probable work ok as you can dry it out again. I used to use rice with my hooks but gave up when it got mouldy. Now only carry small quantity in my box.

yeah thanx guys..il put rice in one and silica in the other..il let ya know if there are any difference.

i've heard of putting a small blob of vaseline in your box of hooks then closing the lid and shake it violently for a couple of seconds and they should all have a thin coating on them. the hooks should remain rust free and apparently there are no smells or tastes involved from the fish's perspective
