queensland Offshore straddy - 8/12/12

Hey Guys,

Quick report from the weekend.

Got these 2 floatlining pillies around the 7's, as well as the spangled in the pic below, also picked up a nice tusky which cannot bee seen in the esky.

got the cod on a live pike at boat rock. trolled for a couple of hours but could not raise a fish.

Hooked up to 2 sharks too one was about 7 ft which put a good bend in the new talica/live fibre venom outfit, very impressed with how it performed :)

All in all it was a goodlast trip until christmas holiday.

To be honest I'd Probably release any more cod caught down here. This one ate terribly! The fillets were super fatty and greasy.

Would it have anything to do with the cooler water down here? I've caught/ eaten plenty of cod up north and they have never been as fatty as this one

Great catch! Don't know anything about fatty cod but that cod certainly looks like it has chubby guts.
