Whats the best place to get a cheap yabby pump?

Hi,

Money is tight at the moment so i'm trying to save it where i can! I've been thinking of giving bait gathering a try and looking at yabby pumps. I'm loath to spend £70 on a pump at bcf that turns out to be a 5 minute wonder. Just wondered if there are any cheaper functional bait pumps out there?

Any advice much appreciated.

Big W or Kmart fishing section.. They have them for around $35

It's been a while since I walked those aisles might try and pick one up tomorrow. Was looking at making one and the mental price list came to about $30 for what would probably be a pretty useless one and that's if I didn't balls up the first attempt lol

ive got an alvey was my dads its now 20 years old and is just as good as the day he bought just like all his alvey stuff. i recomend that extra 20 bucks on getting one that will last aye. the rubber seals they use only cost 5 bucks or so to replace

You wont get any "cheaper" than the pumps at BCF, you might pay less for a better pump though

Have you thought about 2nd hand? Check out the local flea markets on a sunday for a second hand one. As stated, if it goes up and down, all you need to spend is an extra $5 for a new seal.

Had a look in K mart today, had nothing, I did wonder about the false economy of getting a cheapo one, not sure what you mean by the bcf comment? Are the Wilson ones they sell no good or can I get better for less elsewhere? My wife suggested the flea markets and I'm all for a bit of recycling and repairing so i'll give them a go if I can wait that long :-)

The wilson ones are ok, just more expensive than elsewhere. Get a better pump for the same money.

Caboolture markets will have a yabby pump for a reasonable price

Got told about a diy one at work using 150mm pipe with two thumb holes. He said the bloke filled a bucket in no time while he took an hour to get the same amount. Two handles at the top supposedly much easier to use
