Twisted Mono traces

Hi guys,

a while ago i purchased a reel from a guy on a different forum that had been using it for chasing big stocked impoundment Barra up north and at the time i bought it he gave me a twisted mono trace he had been using.

Ive still got the trace but have no idea how he has managed to construct it and wondered if anyone out there makes anything similar as id be interested to give it a go!!

I’ve tried to attach a picture but do not have a macro lens to hand for the camera!

if anyone has any ideas id love to hear

In the last picture you can see how the trace is four strands thick for another the first 4 inches then goes to two strands.

I have a post somewhere on how to make twisted leaders. I will see if I can dig it up.

They are called a Knotted Dog leader and easiest way to make them is with a drill to spin them.

this vid is pretty much the same leader type, this is a fly tippet but the same technique is applied to what looks to be made in your pics

just made a quick one from the vid, i used 60lb so not as easy to twist fine by hand and is a bit rough but it only took a couple minutes
