Just a massive shout out to Andrew (ONTHECHEW) Phillips for his fantastic article on the topic of SE QLD popping.

This article is a selfless example of information sharing that makes this community prosper, not to mention it would have taken a huge amount of his own personal time.

Check it out here: http://www.australianfishing.com.au/tacklebox/helpful-articles/628-top-water-addiction-gt-popping-in-se-qld

Well done mate and I can't wait to read more from you.

No worries Angus,

biggest issue for me was to not waffle on. Wanted to put something to paper that would help any one out from novice to anyone that already heads offshore. It is a very addictive style of fishing and once you have a go you get hooked.

I'm addict. Yet to try down here yet as the blokes I normally fish with aren't really into (yet).

You have reaffirmed my desire to persist with a centre console boat, too.

I got the gear, now all I need is to man up and buy my own boat!

Very good article mate. I've caught a 60cm Trevally in Pumicestone Passage on my 2500 with 8lb braid 10lb leader and that was one of my best fights I'd hate to see a metre+ fight unreal.

Was up the passage the other week with my mate. We were targeting Flathead and he hooked up to a 55 odd cm Trev almost landed it but lost it on its last run near the boat. Which makes what you wrote very interesting about backing your drag off on the 1st run. I think this would have helped but targeting Flatty, I only new it was a Trev after its 1st run when it headed off the flats into open water and unfortunately popped the hook a couple of metres from the boat.

Appreciate the article mate was very interesting

Thanks Tom :cheer:

Great article and as if I wasn't itching enough to get out and get one in these areas but really hanging for my trip to Vanuatu in May.

Got myself a Hots Gipan 83H

Andrew what line would you recomend best for popping GT for a Saltiga 5000

Varivas is always top of the pile but has the price to match.
