queensland Burrum Heads or Toogoom

Hi Fellas, i,m looking at booking a holiday house at either Burrum Heads or Toogoom. I was just wondering which one has the best access to Hervey Bay at high and low tides. Also the least crowded? Cheers Scott

Burrum is quiet, Toogoom is catatonic (but nice). Both have access to the bay at all tides, but Burrum has better access to more fishing options. Boat ramps at both places are ok, but watch tides and sandflats at both.

Thanks! I think the missus has decided on Toogoom. I can always drive up to Burrum.

I've never stayed at Toogoom but have fished the Burrum and HB so it would be a good base for you to fish both. If you get the chance, give the shallow reefs at Gattakers Bay a go. Very easy access for mostly smaller boats but there's great fishing less than a kilometre from the boat ramp. It's one of my favourite spots.

yeah - not a lot happening at Toogoom but I love the place. Definitely the least crowded. The creek that runs through there fishes ok at times. I've caught some big flatties, whiting a bream off the foreshore so it's good for the kids if you pump some yabbies. Also plenty of gar if you wanna burley up.

If you're thinking about launching a boat to then drive out to the bay - it can get a bit shallow at the bottom of the tide.

The drive into hervey bay or burrum to launch is about 20minutes.

Thanks for the replies. I usually stay at Wondunna but the property wasn,t available. I have stayed at Toogoom once before. Hopefully it will be a good half way point to fish the bay. Cheers Scott
