Rod ID Help needed

Hi All

I'm just starting out in the fly world and i'm trying to ID my first fly rod. I purchased it 2nd hand on a bit of a whim and can't seem to find out any info...it was cheap enough so i thought it was worth the gamble at the time however i am thinking it might be way to long for what i need. Any help would be great ... i have included some pics of the info on the rod but to date i can't work out what brand it is.

thanks very much

matt

cheers for looking ... i have had the same trouble and basically came up with the same solution ... that match rod is a type but can't find the logo. The bloke i got it from suggested that it might have been a custom job by someone in brissy? but wasn't real sure either.

Cheers again

MA- 7-4203 could mean Medium Action, 7wt 4.2m, 3 piece. If it's a flyrod, it's probably a speyrod, used for holding large amounts of line in the air and casting with specialised casting techniques.

My advice is to get a 9 foot 4pce rod. Which one depends on your budget and skill of course. Happy to help out

hey marnold, match rods are coarse fishing tackle not flygear

thats why its so long and if you look at the runners they arent of a type you usually see on flyrods

Jeff is correct this is a coarse rod, use an eggbeater and maybe a float or swimfeeder. Not a fly rod.But don't recognise the brand.

Hi all

thanks for your help ... sounds like this is not going to be much good for what i am looking for ... does anyone know what it might be worth or maybe is anyone interested in purchasing or swapping for something that would be more what i am after?

cheers

matt
