queensland First Fish on New Rod and a PB

Headed out with Mark (Plastic Fantastic) for a flick around the South Pine this morning. Bite was pretty good early but dropped off after about 7.30. Good fun on top waters.

Anyway, first fish on my new Gary Howard Tropical Assassin that went 43cm (PB for me).

Hi Col. Byron was fantastic mate. We had good weather and the fishing was pretty good off the beach at the front of the camp site.

Great fish!! How do you think the black Sammy's go? I've got one but tend to prefer the lighter colour ones for the bass. Might have to give the black one a go again for sure

Great fish!! How do you think the black Sammy's go? I've got one but tend to prefer the lighter colour ones for the bass. Might have to give the black one a go again for sure

Mate I am no expert but the consensus seems to be that darker lures create a more visible shadow especially around low light conditions. I chose that particular lure because I see it time and again in pictures. I got 4 with it on the morning and a couple more hits so was doing the trick.
