Hi, just wondering if you need a permit to fish for Red claw in Hinze Dam?? I beleive the permit is for stocking but red claw are not stocked and fisheries prefer you dont release them back.

Also i know the season doesnt really begin until Aug Sep but am i likely to pick up a few now??

Was planning yacking it out there, should i leave them in over night??

And is there a better part of hinze to fish for the red claw??

I need 100 or so for my Aquaponics System.

cheers guys

The Hinze permit is a private one, not an SIP permit. You would need to find out the specific rules for that permit.

You dont need (currently) a permit to redclaw in SIP dams.

There are redclaw in Hinze, traditionally not been many, but quite likely with the dam filling to the higher level and all the sunken grass and timber that the numbers will have increased dramatically, but not seen any in the shrimp traps the couple of times I have been this year..

You can catch redclaw all year round, you do do better in summer months.
