Brisbane River after the rain...your thoughts?

Well finally it looks like the rain is going to move off tomorrow morning and with the wind still up I am considering going to the BR to find some live bait and have a crack for a Jewie/Thready.

I was just wondering what your thoughts are on fishing the BR from Hamilton to the mouth after the light but steady rain we have had over the last week?

Cheers Andrew

they should be on the chew, but the fresh water also stirs up the catfish and muddies which can be annoying.

fish the incoming tide, i wouldnt bother with the out going, i find that there is too much rubbish/jellyfish in the river coming out which just gets stuck on ur line.

How did you go mate? I'm considering hitting up

The river this arvo if I can finish work a bit early...... Went down the tweed yesterday and the tide was still racing out two hours after the predicted low with all the fresh, had no idea it rained so much down there :( little bit windy too!

Pretty much the same but it was about an hour and a half. If the wind wasn't the way it was I would have gone outside and fished the main shipping channel markers were clean met fresh. Catching live bait was a right pain and only caught one catfish.

Do you blokes reckon there will be some activity in the Brekky Creek area tonight? The high tide is around 630 tonight and wind is down as well.

I was there last night and struggled to get bait in the net, didn't see bugger all on the sounder, and there was alot of debris in the water. In saying that it's always worth a shot as I have caught and had some of my best sessions in crappy conditions. Be prepared for the tidal movement to take a while to change direction with all the fresh coming down. If I was going again I would head further out to the mouth and fish the area with clean seawater coming in.

Nice work! What was the size? Not asking for spots but would like to know if you fished the cleaner water towards the mouth as I did no good from Breakfast creek to colmslie
