I went to see my girlfriend at the sunshine coast and everytime I wanted to go fishing I had to drive 30 mins to the coastline and into the canals but one day i decided to have a quick 30min flick at a near by creek and what came to my surprise i actually caught something! I was so happy!

well done mate. Its good to get one when ya not expecting it. I travel all over with work n keep a rod n few lures under my seat stopping for a quick flick in any patch of water i find. Most of the time i get nothing but every so often i get a surprise. There is something special about wild native bass. Its a great size bro. Keep trying those surrounding creeks. im looking forward to seeing how ya go.

Nice healthy bass mate.

Not sure of where you are fishing, but something of note. Its currently Bass Closed season, so the targeting of bass is not allowed.

Ah thanks JarryA. Hmm does that mean I should stop fishing in the creek? Cause I was hoping to catch my first yellow belly or Cod after that bass catch since they all live in similar conditions... now im afraid a bycatch would be a bass.

Mate thats a great question, and its the same argument alot of people use to still fish the bass areas. As Yellowbelly are targeted on the same gear, its a loophole of sorts that is played by alot of people. Personally i err on the side of caution and don't fish those kind of waterways during closed season.
