A mate and I hit the water early for an offshore fish a little bit further than usual. Went through the seaway at 4.30 ish pitch black and it was flat as. Headed straight out to a few marks in 80 mtrs of water east of surfers. Only catching small squire, so swapped rods to a small 4-7 raider with a 4000 baitrunner, 15lb braid and 25lb leader with a pillie on my favourite 2 hook rig. Got hit by a bigger snapper,then I thought shark, but after a 20 minute fight and the fish still on it could only be a cobia. Big boy at that, this rod was doubled over, Finally in the boat the yahooing started my first cobia, STOKED as they say.

Because I was floatinning I reckon I had 4 colours left on the spool = 20 mtrs, we had to pull up gear and chase It so I could get line on the spool, so pulling this thing over 200 mtrs, I reckon easily 25 mins im amazed nothing snapped, I dare not put one more turn of drag on him.The boat was flying with the wind as well.
