Maroochy Report

Hi everyone,

went on a brief fishing session to the Maroochy River for something different!

The day started off pretty well with a few trevally on soft plastics around the Maroochy River bridge, but the stand out for sure was Matt's horse bream! This fish was huge and fell to a Zerek Live Shrimp rigged on a standard, 1/8oz jig head!

After the trevally calmed down we moved further upriver and caught plenty of flathead then as we got into some deeper water, Tim's Squidgy Wriggler was SMASHED by a massive mulloway! After a good struggle on light gear (1000 Shimano/Nordic Stage) a 80-90cm mulloway came up to the surface and as we reached out with the net...POP! Out flew the lure and mr Mulloway slowly cruised back into the depths! Tim was spewing! Anyway, that's fishing, and we will definitely be back!

Cheers, Chris

Thanks Chris,

kinda encourages me to get off my butt ans get back out there. I've struggled to pull anything besides tiny whiting and toads out of the Maroochy since i moved back up here 10 months ago! I used to be able to get a decent feed of whiting or bream almost every trip back in the early 2000's.

I'm hoping once i pick the yak up in the next week or 2 that being able to reach spots inaccessible from shore will help out a bit.
