Beasts!

Top shot on the fox.

Does Chief have a brother? Top Dog.

Mate I am not sure, we rescude the big fella....but we will be breeding him in the near future

U like bandogs do u

Boxers, Mastiffs, most breeds with a big chest, thick neck, soft ears and great temperament.

Keep us in the loop when you breed. Could be perfect timing.

Nice one Kurt! Great pigs there

we went hunting over the holidays but couldn't seem to find many pigs resulting in none dropped...

we were just on foot without dogs but surely we would have encountered more?

is there a specific method of targeting them on foot?

I will hav to do more research on pig hunting before we go out again

awesome work once again

cheers!

Mate it all depends on the property when on foot. If it is a grain property then concentrate on earlier morning and late afternoon. Keep a good eye out for well use pads and if you find some, consintrate on that area. If you are their long enough, you will work out how the pigs are moving and at what times. They are an animal of routine. Pigs have to feed after geting a guy full of grain, so you can concentrate on creeks, dams and drains as well

Try and hunt with the sun behind you and always hunt into the wind.

It can take ages to work them out mate

Awesome.

After coming back from Scotland it has been hard to track down some venison!

Do you keep the fox pelts?

If you are looking for a feed the Super Butcher stocks it. The new one at browns plains had quite a bit on Saturday.

At this stage fox pelts are not fetching enough money to warrant keeping.

Fair enough.

I have been reading up on tanning a hide properly and am pretty keen to give it a go is all.

Seems fairly straight forward with some nice furs as a result :)

Surprisingly Coles has actually started stocking it. Sausages, burgers and diced. Cooking a batch today so will let you know how it goes.

I am pretty pedantic over meat but was happy to see that the venison had one ingredient... 100% venison! No preservatives or color enhances etc.

Angus

P.S. No doubt not as good as killing your own but just throwing it out there to those curious about the taste.

There is a guy down in Victoria who you can send fox skins to and he professionally tans them for $30 each.

I used to tan skins 25 years ago and it is a massive time consuming job and not real cheap when doing 1 offs.

These are his Tanning charges.

Rabbit: $5

Fox: $30

Sheep: $40

Deer, hair on $50

Deer, hair off: $60

Goat: $50

Is it just a fox pelt you are after, or do you want to give a goat pelt a go
