Thundercats

Hi all,

I have recently become hooked on wanting a thundercat inflatable! They look like a lot of fun for wave jumping, towing and heading out to the island for a surf or a spear fish. Plus I'm sure it would be more comfortable and safer jumping waves in them compared to my tinny!!! :silly: :woohoo:

My problem is that I do not know a lot about them. I am looking to buy a second hand thundercat package including motor and trailer. Was wondering if anyone on here knew anything about them and what some things to look out for when buying second hand.

I have found what I think might be a good, cheap one on gumtree without a motor.

Weekend I spent on my sons big boat awhile back we were heading back from the pin and a couple of idiots in these boats were zooming around our boat trying to jump the wake, at times they missed us by only a foot or so. They had no regard for thier own life or other peoples property.

I suppose it is only a matter of perception,

You only notice the jet skiers that carry on like rabbits or the speeding P platers.

Biggest thing with these boats is wheather the glue joining all the seams is ok.

A mate of mine has a 7 meter RIB and has just had his tubes replaced because the glue was deteriorated and he couldn't stop it leaking.

If it leaks it may be more of a problem than what it's worth.

I've had a go in one and they're good fun.

I'd have one if I had the spare $$.

As has been mentioned, have a good look at the seams, repair patching and wear areas.

Also I think you'll find a 70 hp too much. The one I had fun in had a 40 hp and it went like the clappers.

It wouldn't be too hard to make it more fishing friendly.

Some of the brands actually have heat welded seams, they might be the go. I just read in the paper that their is a thundercat event at Coolum Beach, Sunshine Coast today and tomorrow so I am going to head up their and might be able to learn a few things.

When the international events are on and the South african's are over here racing you can generally pick one up cheap. They buy a new one from over there and ship it here...Race it for however long they are here and sell it for more than they paid for it and it works out better for them than freighting it back. A mate of mine did that and it was alot cheaper.
