Just got an email from Kogan, 3 days notice that they are putting their prices up by 30%.

So I'm in the market for a new carrier.

Thinking Woolies, $30 for 45 days, more than enough calls etc to cover my needs. Anyone use them? (Optus network apparently).

I want reasonable coverage so Vodafone is out, Optus or Telstra as carriers is probably only options for where I want my phone to work.

When i got back from OS I signed up with amaysim who use optus network. 40$ a month for unlimited calls and text and 4g data. Occasionally network drops out but not sure if that my phone or the provider, a reset fixes that so maybe its my end.

Besides that no worries was easy to set up and kept the same number.

Kogan have also reduced their internet to a ma of 6gb and installed a daily limit,

Aldi use telstra network think they are 35 a month and a limit of 4gb a month.

Kogan do give you the option to convert to their yearly plan at the old rate within the 3 day period but you will lose any credit that you currently have.

Cheers

You could always look at Boost, they are now owned by Telstra and use the full Telstra network and customer service network.

They have a pretty good deal and are 40 bux a month like the rest of the jokers getting into the communications swill bucket.

But in saying that we also have Amaysim and have always had good service with them but you cant beat Telstra for coverage.... Try and get service outside off moreton in alot of areas and the northern bay.

I got booted off Kogan for making too many calls with no explanation, so they just plain suck in my books, i was not in accordance with their fair use policy...and even they can't tell you what that is...lol

My personal choice would be Boost or Amaysim...it all depends how much you value your coverage as alot of the other contenders in the market only use part of the Optus or Telstra network.

Well, being a cheapskate, I went with Woolies, $29 for 45 days was to hard to resist. (Not forgetting the staff discount on top of that!)

Thought I had buggered my phone when I did the swap, literally within 2 minutes of me applying to activate the new sim and transfer my number, my kogan account went dead. Thought I had stuffed the phone mucking with the new sim card! (Phone takes two sims, the phone literally went dead when I loaded the new card in the 2nd slot)

But the new SIM was active within 10 minutes of the application, my number ported and all. Considering it took nearly 48 hours when I moved form Telstra to Kogan, I am pretty impressed.

Tried it out on north pine dam today and a run up around the back of Dayboro and Samford, service as good as telstra everywhere, so looking good!

If you are using your current phone then look at Vaya.

I just switched my family's 4 phones from Vodafone to them. Vodafone wanted $49 a month per phone for 500MB of data and $500 of phone calls.

Vaya use the Optus network and charge $17 (they currently have a 20% off promo on the 22 plan) for 1.5Gb of data and $650 of calls and text. Sim cards are free on a contract or it's $20 on month by month.

It's not on the 4G network and took about 3 hours for the change over but it suits my purposes perfectly.
